Jakob Juhkam

Jakob Juhkam (b. 1992) is an Estonian composer and multi-instrumentalist. His first compositions are from 2006, and the following year he went to study composition at Tallinn Music High School. Jakob released his first solo album T in 2012. He has formed three bands to play his music, and he has also been a keyboardist in Estonian bands like Vaiko Eplik and the Eliit and Malcolm Lincoln. Creating music for theatre and film has been his main calling since. In addition to composing for theatres in Estonia, he has collaborated with Tiit Ojasoo and Ene-Liis Semper in productions in Hamburg Thalia Theater, Burgtheater in Vienna and Lucerne City Theatre. His music is a blend of rock and jazz rhythms, harmony and instrumentation, minimalist and electronic soundscapes and textures, and the aesthetics of recording-techniques from different eras.

Jakob has released three solo albums, the last of which is a double-album L, released in 2022. Besides the solo albums, he has also released many of the compositions for theatre and film as digital albums. Work and acknowledgments: Sound designs and compositions for more than 25 productions; 11 albums, 3 of which are solo albums. Solo album L awarded 3rd best album of 2022 by Eesti Ekspress newspaper.
