Katariin Raska

Katariin Raska is a multi-instrumentalist and improviser based in Tallinn, Estonia. Her projects are connected to folk and traditional music, to free improvisation and experimental music. In 2010, Raska graduated from University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy with a Bachelor degree in Estonian traditional music. She also obtained a Bachelor and Master degree in performing arts from Norwegian Academy of Music (2013, 2016). As a promoter of Estonian jaw harp music, Katariin Raska is the founder of the association Eesti Parmupilli Selts (Estonian Jaw Harp Association) and the organiser of Estonian jaw harp festivals (2020 and 2021). She is a pioneer of improvisational music played on Estonian bagpipes. With many different music projects, she has performed at various festivals in Estonia, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Ireland etc. Raska has worked with both poets and storytellers, Estonian and foreign artists in the field of traditional and improvisational music.
