Alise Bērziņa

Latvian composer Alise Bērziņa was born in Riga and studied at Jāzeps Vītols’ Latvian Academy of Music in the music pedagogy department (2019) and in the composition department (2022., composer Ēriks Ešenvalds). Currently, Alise is a graduate year student at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, composition department (prof. Tõnu Kõrvits). Alise has participated in several composition competitions, such as Pēteris Vasks’ Composition Competition (2020. and 2021.), Vox Juventutis 2020; an organ music project Riga Cathedral Inspires; in alternative chamber music festival Sansusī; and also a few workshops, Summer Media Studio in Pervalka, Lithuania as one of them. Alise has worked and sung in various choirs, right now she is singing in the Riga project Choir (conductor Chris Walsh Sinka).

In her compositional work, Alise loves to dig deep into fields of philosophy and psychology, as there she finds inspiration towards emotions, feelings and labyrinths of mind. She likes to try new and different approaches, musical technics with each new composition.
