Throughout human development, word and music have moved hand in hand—so closely that, according to some evolutionary theories, these two fundamental forms of expression were once indistinguishable. Although today’s specialized world has distinct masters for both, their paths often converge to create something extraordinarily profound and moving.

We have invited some of Tartu’s most prominent wordsmiths to discuss the intersection of language and music. We will explore how music resonates within their writing and delve into their personal experiences with the intertwining of word and sound.

Participants: Kristiina Ehin, Urmas Vadi, and Valdur Mikita.

Musical programme:
A new work by Ardo Ran Varres, based on Urmas Vadi’s miniature The End of Melancholy (Kurvameelsuse lõpp).
Improvisations by Robert Jürjendal, inspired by the works of Kristiina Ehin and Valdur Mikita.

The event will be held in Estonian.
