Kaspar Mänd

Kaspar Mänd is a conductor at the Estonian National Opera and the artistic director of Ludensemble. He graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in choral conducting (Professor Hirvo Surva), while also studying oboe (Associate Professor Nils Rõõmussaar), and in 2014 completed a master’s degree in orchestral conducting (Professor Paul Mägi). He has continued his studies at the Paris Conservatoire in Professor Zsolt Nagy’s conducting class and has also taken part in the Järvi Summer Academy, as well as masterclasses with Eri Klas and Risto Joost.

In 2009, Kaspar Mänd founded the mixed choir HUIK!, and from 2011 to 2014 he was chief conductor of the chamber choir Voces Musicales. Since 2014, he has worked as a conductor at the Estonian National Opera, where he has conducted more than 50 stage works. In 2016, he founded the Uue Tänava Orchestra, with which all of Beethoven’s and Mendelssohn’s symphonies were performed.
From 2019 to 2023, Kaspar Mänd served as chief conductor of the Pärnu City Orchestra.
In 2021, he received the annual prize of the Music Endowment of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, and in 2025 the Cultural Award of the Republic of Estonia together with the creative team of the ballet Light from the End of the World.
