Dimitrios Konstantinos Rizos

Dimitrios Konstantinos Rizos is a Greek composer and conductor. He is currently studying composition with Toivo Tulev and Helena Tulve. He studied Orchestral Conducting with Arvo Volmer at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Additionally, he furthered his conducting studies at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts with Christoph Alstaedt and Johannes Schlaefli. He completed his undergraduate studies in Music Theory and Composition at the Hellenic American University, where his main professors of composition were Theodore Antoniou, Panagiotis Liaropoulos, and Savvas Tsiligiridis. 

His compositional portfolio spans music for solo instruments, piano-voice, choir, various ensembles, and orchestra, with many of his works having been performed in concerts, festivals, and academic settings. As a conductor, Rizos has led orchestras such as Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Mainz, Göttinger Symphonieorchester, Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie, Bergische Symphoniker, Kammerphilharmonie Frankfurt, Pforzheim Chamber Orchestra, and Athens Philarmonia Orchestra. In 2024, he founded the ensemble Alekton, focusing on music of the 20th and 21st centuries, with an emphasis on newly composed works.
