“Sorimuni 2” for string orchestra (2016)
“Sori” means sound and “muni” means pattern, decor or imprint in Korean. In this title, the word “muni” can be translated also as “image”.
My “Sorimuni” pieces are a series of compositions to research the aspects of sound and to maximize its interior world. “Sorimuni 2” is a soundscape for approximate 8 minutes long, where you meet the sound of string orchestra always in changing. You can imagine the movement of clouds which is never predictable. These happen in categories of concepts such as “texture”, “contrast”, and “volume”.
This piece is dedicated to composer Paik for his 80th birthday.

Jonas Tarm (b. 1994, Estonia)
“Memories of the Earth” for string orchestra (2019, premiere)

Tallinn Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1993 by conductor Tõnu Kaljuste. In two decades it has become one of Estonia’s signature orchestras and a welcome guest performer on numerous stages in Europe and all over the world. Since autumn 2013 the chief conductor of TCO is Risto Joost. TCO has gained regard for its artistically integral programmes, style-sensitive play and mastery of interpretation, TCO’s musicians are highly rated string players, who also regularly perform as soloists and chamber musicians.
TCO is one of performers on Arvo Pärt’s record “Adam’s Lament”, which won a Grammy in 2014.
