Ulla Krigul

Ulla Krigul is one of the most outstanding younger generation organists in Estonia. She likes to expand organ repertoire and has made several first performances of contemporary Estonian organ music and collaborates with Estonian composers to urge them to write new organ repertoire. She is also loved as chamber musician: her partners have been on piano, saxophone, oboe, trumpet, violin, harpsichord, drums, also singers, dancers, electronics and even church organs. An important role is played by contemporary music. She has premièred several works by Estonian younger generation composers (Tõnis Kaumann, Galina Grigorjeva, Tõnu Kõrvits, Ülo Krigul, Märt-Matis Lill etc). After piano studies at Tallinn Music Highschool (M. Jürisson and I. Ilja) and Tallinn Music Academy she went on in Estonian Academy of Music on organ faculty (A. Uibo). Before finishing Master’s degree, she studied in Vienna for 2 years by Univeristät für Musik und Darstellende Kunst (M. Haselböck). She has participated in organ competitions in Tallinn, Gdansk and in Kaliningrad. Also visited many mastercourses: David Timm, Wolfgang Zerer, Serge Schoonbroodt, Christoph Krummacher, Peter van Dijk, Michel Bouvard, Guy Bovet and Pier Damiano Peretti. Since 2003 she has participated in Tallinn International Organ Festival, Glasperlenspiel Festival, performed in Finland, Austria, Germany, Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Visby, Riga and Lviv. Currently she works for Finnish congregation in and Georg Ots Tallinn Music School as accompanist. In 2019, her first CD was released with organ works of Estonian composer Erkki-Sven Tüür.
